    Looking for music...
About to do my latest RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 video, a re-do of my park for the Gunslinger scenario. However, this time, I'm going to do it with music that is free. There are a few places were I've found a fairly good selection of pieces that are both cost and royalty free, such as Jamendo, The Free Music Archive, and Incompetech. Still, they seem a little light on upbeat, uptempo country-western music, particularly instrumental pieces. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

    Rev It Up!
Got another RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 video up! This park is called "Checkered Flag", as it has two go-cart race tracks already built at the start of the scenario. Go, watch it here!

    Following Fright Night Comes....
Yep, I've made another spooky-themed park and another video about it. This one is called Ghost Town. I put some extra effort into putting together some buildings, though most of the "empty houses" came pre-made in the scenario. You can see it here.

    My Latest RCT3 Creation!
Well, now that I know I can add more videos to YouTube, I've uploaded the park I created to complete the Fright Night scenario. As you can guess, it is a spooky themed park. I am particularly proud of the third roller coaster, Zombie Race. You can see it here!

The opening videos, now with new music!
Uploaded the videos for the variations of my Four-Kolor Kitty opening sequences with new music! Take a look at them here and let me know which one you like best, and any suggestions for improving them.

    And another variation!
I made another variation, based on some feed back, of the opening sequence for a video version of "Four-Kolor Kitty". EDIT: Removed the video due to a problem with the music (see previous entry for details).

    Nifty new video project!
Well, I got inspired by Atop The Fourth Wall, "where bad comics burn" to think about turning my Four-Kolor Kitty columns into videos. To that end, I made a few variations of an opening sequence for them. I also discovered that I could put up more videos on YouTube. I had thought that I was limited to ten, but I had misinterpreted what I had read. It is simply that one can only be uploading ten videos concurrently at one time. EDIT: Found out that the music I had wasn't as public domain as I though, and that the web-site I got it from has their licensing set up that if used in a public manner (like a web-video), they can charge you for the use. So, I'm taking them down until I can replace that music. Sigh....

    New hardware and updates!
For Christmas, my brother gave me a gift card for buying a new external hard drive. I finally picked one up. 500 GB USB 2.0, I used Time Machine to back up my internal HD. I then finally upgraded my OS from 10.5.2 up to 10.5.7. Woo!

    Oh, pull the other one...
Just caught the latest episode of Batman: The Brave and The Bold. This one features Bat-Mite. It also has a scene where Bat-Mite reads a statement obviously intended for the real-life critics of the tone of this new series:

"Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but it is certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots as is the tortured avenger crying out for mommy and daddy."

    Meadow muffins, says I.

If we are going to the true roots of Batman, we are going for the urban detective. While there isn't anything wrong, per say, with wanting to go with a "Silver Age" view, claiming it is the way the original creator saw Batman is way off base. I have to say, this season's offerings have gone all the way into unintentional parody range, such as was seen in the movie Batman and Robin. It hasn't gotten bad enough to drive me off, as the nostalgia still has me interested, but it is beginning to bug me.

As you can see, I'm just above being a red-shirt. I like Geordi, though of the cast, I prefered O'Brien.

If I were a Star Trek character, who do you think I would be?

I thought it was a bit small...
As you might remember, last Friday I went with my company to see the new Star Trek movie. I was excited because it was suppose to be in IMAX. Now, I didn't mention it in my post, but when I saw the screen, I thought it looked a bit smaller than I remembered IMAX being, but I chalked it up to it being quite a while since I saw my last IMAX movie. However, I just read a report that the "IMAX" for the theater chain that I saw Star Trek, while being licensed by IMAX to call certain theaters "IMAX", have screens far smaller than the traditional IMAX. In fact, they are only slightly larger than most standard film screens, and they still charge more for this minor difference. I would be more upset if I had had to pay for the ticket myself, but still, it rubs me the wrong way.

"Say, Jamie, weren't you once a...."
I'm watching some Mythbusters, and a comment by Adam Savage got me to thinking: Is there a list some where of all the skills that Adam Savage says his partner Jamie Hyneman has? It is something of a running gag the Jamie has this long list of experiences (which apparently is true), and Adam will claim that Jamie has some odd skill that relates to the myth they are testing.

    Former Comic Book Collector?
You know, I just realized I haven't picked up any comic books for almost a month now. When my last regular comic shop closed, I tried the next nearest shop, but I wasn't very impressed by it. They seem to put a minimum of effort in the way they have their comics displayed, and the number of new copies appeared to be on the low side. The other stores just seem to be far enough out to be inconvenient for me to go to on a regular basis. I could subscribe directly, but one of the things I like about picking up my comics in a store is I can see if there are any other books out (specials, new series, etc) that I might want to get as well. Of course, the fact that I've been less happy with the way many of my comics have been going lately might have something to do with the fact I'm not as eager to pick them up as well.

    Warp Factor Fun!
Just got home from seeing the new Star Trek movie with my company, in IMAX no less. The reviews are right, it is a great movie! Long time fans might feel a twinge of regret at some of the events in the movie (I wouldn't say any more, lest spoilers be thrown), but I can't say that I disagree with the direction they took. If you like Trek, I think you will like the movie.

I was watching an episode of M*A*S*H when they mentioned chipped beef. You know, I've never seen, much less had, chipped beef. I was wondering what it is comparable to, and what creamed chipped beef on toast is like....

What happened to those classic Easter specials? "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" and "The Easter Bunny is Coming To Town"? I don't think I saw a single Easter classic this year!

    Easter Update
Visited my dad today again this morning. Apparently he was off the mask for a little bit this morning, which I presume is a good sign. He was rather sleepy, so I mostly talked to my mom, who gave me some forms on some of finances, said I should look into getting the medical forms to fill out that gives folks instructions for what to do if I am found unconscious, and listen to my complain about the state of comics these days. One thing my mom said is that Dad will be going home, we just aren't sure when, so that seems positive.

My mom says that my brother sent her a picture of my niece with an Easter present she got to her phone, but we couldn't figure out how to bring it up again. I bet it's cute, though!

A quick question for my friends in Florida near W.D.W.: Okay, the Disney channels have been hyping this new "Kim Possible interactive adventure" that is being done at Epcot. Interesting that, even though Kim Possible is no longer in production, the characters are still relevant enough for them to use them. What are you feelings on this adventure thing? I keep getting this image of Dr. Drakken going "Kim Possible, you think your interactive adventure is all that, but it's not!" Of course, it looks nifty in the ads, but if it didn't, it wouldn't be a good ad, right?

    Latest on Dad.
Dad now has a full mask for the oxygen rather than just the nose tube they had on him earlier. This seems to be more comfortable for him, and Mom says he seems stronger and is eating. They didn't say anything about the x-rays, so I am hoping at this point that no news is good news. Your prayers, well-wishes, and support are appreciated.

    Four-Eyed Feline
While my on-line persona has cat's eyes, in real life, I wear glasses. Now, I've had the same pair of glasses for years now, and I'm thinking it is about time I get a new pair. However, for the first time, my insurance at work doesn't cover it. So, not only don't I have a specific place I know I can go, I am going to want to do it, well, on the cheap. Going to need a new eye exam, too. Wouldn't mind some suggestions on this.

    What Patchy did today.
Went down to my folks' place, though they aren't there at the moment. Found that several electrical outlets, for some reason, had stopped working. No problem with the breakers, so that wasn't it. The big issue was both the fridge and their stand-alone freezer were connected to non-functional outlets. With the help of my brother, though, we got heavy-duty extension cables on them and plugged them into good outlets. A nice temporary solutiion. Wasn't the relaxing day I was hoping for, but my brother got me lunch from Jack-in-the-Box, so it wasn't all bad. Thanks, big brother!
